02 Ingredients

  • 1 Whole Chicken (cut into 8 pieces) or 1kg Chicken Drumsticks/Thighs

  • 2 cups Buttermilk

  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour

  • 1 tsp Paprika

  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder

  • 1 tsp Onion Powder

  • 1 tsp Cayenne Pepper (optional, for heat)

  • 1 tsp Salt

  • 1 tsp Black Pepper

  • Vegetable Oil (for deep frying)

03 Method

Step 1
Marinate the Chicken pieces in Buttermilk with a pinch of Salt and Pepper. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours (or overnight for best flavor).

Step 2
In a large bowl, mix Flour, Paprika, Garlic Powder, Onion Powder, Cayenne, Salt, and Black Pepper.

Step 3
Remove Chicken from the buttermilk, letting excess drip off. Dredge each piece in the seasoned Flour until fully coated.

Step 4
Heat Oil in a deep pan or fryer to 175°C (350°F).

Step 5
Carefully place Chicken pieces into the hot Oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding.

Step 6
Fry for 12–15 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 75°C / 165°F).

Step 7
Remove and drain on paper towels.

Step 8
Serve hot with sides like mashed potatoes, coleslaw, or biscuits for a true Southern feast.
