02 Ingredients
1 Whole Chicken (cut into 8 pieces) or 1kg Chicken Drumsticks/Thighs
2 cups Buttermilk
2 cups All-Purpose Flour
1 tsp Paprika
1 tsp Garlic Powder
1 tsp Onion Powder
1 tsp Cayenne Pepper (optional, for heat)
1 tsp Salt
1 tsp Black Pepper
Vegetable Oil (for deep frying)

Step 1
Marinate the Chicken pieces in Buttermilk with a pinch of Salt and Pepper. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours (or overnight for best flavor).
Step 2
In a large bowl, mix Flour, Paprika, Garlic Powder, Onion Powder, Cayenne, Salt, and Black Pepper.
Step 3
Remove Chicken from the buttermilk, letting excess drip off. Dredge each piece in the seasoned Flour until fully coated.
Step 4
Heat Oil in a deep pan or fryer to 175°C (350°F).
Step 5
Carefully place Chicken pieces into the hot Oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding.
Step 6
Fry for 12–15 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 75°C / 165°F).
Step 7
Remove and drain on paper towels.
Step 8
Serve hot with sides like mashed potatoes, coleslaw, or biscuits for a true Southern feast.
