02 Ingredients
1 cup Sourdough Starter (active and bubbly)
1 cup Warm Water (about 110°F / 43°C)
2 tbsp Olive Oil or Butter (melted)
2 tsp Salt
3 cups All-Purpose Flour
1 tbsp Sugar
1 tsp Instant Yeast (optional, helps with rise)
03 Method
Step 1
In a large bowl, mix the Sourdough Starter, Warm Water, Olive Oil (or Butter), Salt, and Sugar.
Step 2
Gradually add the All-Purpose Flour, 1 cup at a time, mixing as you go. If using Instant Yeast, add it with the flour.
Step 3
Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. You can do this by hand or with a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook.
Step 4
Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl and cover it with a cloth or plastic wrap. Let it rise for about 3-4 hours, or until it has doubled in size.
Step 5
Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release any air bubbles. Shape the dough into a loaf and place it into a greased 9x5 inch loaf pan.
Step 6
Cover the pan with a cloth and let it rise for an additional 1–2 hours, or until the dough has risen just above the edge of the pan.
Step 7
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Step 8
Bake the bread for 30–35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the loaf sounds hollow when tapped.
Step 9
Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
